- At the local swimming pool a lifeguard can dive into the deep end and touch the bottom. If the deep end is 10 feet deep what integer describes how far below the pool’s water level he can dive.
- You are looking at the thermometer during a summer day and it reads 85°F above zero. What integer represents the temperature for the day?
- Below is a chart of some of the record lowest temperatures in certain states.

- A bird is flying 20 feet above sea level. What integer represents how high the bird is flying and what would zero represent in this situation?
- The lowest point in the Potomac River is 1 foot above sea level. The lowest point of the Delaware River is sea level. The lowest point of the Colorado River is 70 feet above sea level. Represent each as an integer and write the names of the rivers in order from the least elevation to the greatest elevation.
- A) Write a situation that contains at least 4 keywords for integers. Make sure to include at least one positive and one negative integer in your word problem.
