4/20/2026

Mister Rogers said, “Imagining something may be the first step in making it happen, but it takes the real time and real efforts of real people to learn things, make things, turn thoughts into deeds or visions into inventions.”

Remake Learning envisions what the future of learning in Southwestern Pennsylvania might look like in 2036 with the release of a ten-year forecast, Nurturing What’s Next Imagining the Future of Education in Southwestern Pennsylvania.

The report invites educators to imagine how teaching and learning in Southwestern Pennsylvania could evolve by 2036. It opens by reminding readers that the region has “a vibrant legacy of innovation in and beyond education” and that the coming decade will require new approaches so that “learners, educators, and families can flourish.”

The report outlines six major forces reshaping education in Southwestern Pennsylvania – staffing instability, new opportunities, demographic shifts, rising disruptions, fragile public trust, and increasing digital reliance—creating rapidly changing conditions for schools and communities.
