Four Pennsylvania teachers have been named as State Finalists for the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST). The awards, established by Congress in 1983, are the highest honor bestowed by the United States government specifically for K-12 science, technology, engineering, and mathematics teaching.
The PAEMST finalists in Science include Dylan Fedell of Palisades High School, Jestine Myers of Millville School District, and Andrea Redinger of Greensburg Salem High School. The PAEMST Finalists in Math are Machele Lynch of Saint Patrick School and Lori Sidelinger of Chestnut Ridge High School.
PAEMST winners will receive an all expense trip to Washington, DC, for a series of recognition events and professional learning opportunities, along with a $10,000 award from the National Science Foundation. Nominations for K-6 grade science and mathematics teachers will open this fall.
