Description
Mt. Etna is one of the largest continental volcanoes and among the most active in the world (although the eruption rate is about 1/6 that of Kilauea in Hawaii). Nearly 250 cinder cones (conical hills), formed by the accumulation of cinders and other pryoclastics near volcanic vents, dot the surface of this European volcano.
