Description
Pyrite, easily identified by its metallic luster and greenish to brownish black streak, is the most common and widespread of the sulfide minerals. It was often incorrectly identified as gold by novice miners (pyrite has a greater hardness and significantly lower specific gravity). The faces of this sample are clearly striated.
