- Using the data in the chart below, create a graph that describes the relationship between a puppy’s growth and its breed. The puppies were feed the same brand of puppy food and were weighed in every three months on the same scale by the same vet tech. Analyze the data.
- For the school science fair you decided to test the absorbency and strength of three popular paper towels. First you tested the absorbency by adding water in increments of .5 teaspoon until the paper towel would no longer absorb water. This data is shown in the first graph. Then you tested the towels strength by having a friend gently hold the wet paper towel while you added pennies one at a time. When the towel started to tear you recorded the number of pennies it was holding. This data is shown in the second graph.
Using the data (evidence) illustrated in the graphs, write a solid conclusion that describes the relationship between absorbency and strength in the three different towels. Discuss which towel you would purchase and explain why.

- Piper is a small dog, maybe a poodle, because he only gains 3 kg in a year. Molly is a medium dog, like a collie. She gained 9 kg over the 12 month period. Buddy is a big dog, like a Great Dane. He gained 46 kg. That is 43 kg more than Piper!
- Note: Student might only conclude that Piper is a small dog, Molly is a medium sized dog, and Buddy is a large breed dog based on the dog’s growth over the year. Some students who are more familiar with dogs might supply a breed with each name.

Wizard paper towel brand is the best brand to purchase if you are looking for both absorbency and strength in a paper towel. Wizard held six teaspoons of water which is three teaspoons more than Trooper brand and four teaspoons less than Clean-up brand. However, Clean-up held only 18 pennies to Wizard’s 25 pennies. Trooper held 35 pennies which was the greatest of the three paper towels. If you just wanted a paper towel to absorb spills then you would choose Clean-up, or if you were looking for a really strong towel to scoop up stuff then Trooper would be your choice. Most people want a paper towel that is both absorbent and strong so Wizard would be the best choice.
