Answer Key/Rubric
- A natural resource is a material or substance that occurs in nature that is useful to humans.
- A nonrenewable resource is a natural resource that cannot be replaced and there is a limited supply.
- Acceptable responses may include, but are not limited to:
- Coal is a nonrenewable resource because it cannot be replaced.
- There is only a certain amount of coal, so once it runs out, then we will not have any more.
- Acceptable responses may include, but are not limited to:
- Solar energy is renewable.
- Solar energy is energy from the sun.
- Sunlight can be replaced naturally
- It is renewable because we are able to get more of it.
- It will not run out.
- Acceptable responses may include, but are not limited to:
- We should conserve oil because it is a nonrenewable resource.
- This means that there is only a certain amount of it.
- Since oil can run out, it is important to only use it when necessary.
- We could also try to find an alternative to oil in order to preserve it.
- Acceptable responses may include, but are not limited to:
- Wind energy is renewable
- Wind energy is replaceable and not in limited supply
- Wind energy can be replaced using wind turbines
