Continuum of Activities
The list below represents a continuum of activities: resources categorized by Standard/Eligible Content that teachers may use to move students toward proficiency. Using LEA curriculum and available materials and resources, teachers can customize the activity statements/questions for classroom use.

- A pair of students from a class of 11 boys and 15 girls is being randomly chosen to go on a field trip. What is the probability that the two students chosen will both be girls?
- Teddy is at his favorite take out restaurant. He is going to order a sandwich with a double filling combination and the choices are between four types of meat, three types of cheese and five types of bread. How many combinations of sandwiches can Teddy choose from?
- During a particularly cold part of February the chance for a snowstorm is 85% on Wednesday and 60% on Thursday. What is the probability that it will not snow either day?
- The probability that a man will be alive in 25 years is 3/5, and that the wife will be alive in 25 years is 2/3. Determine the probability that in 25 years, at least one of the two will be alive.
- Five family members are walking into a room in random order. Assuming that none of them are twins, what is the probability that they walk into the room from oldest to youngest?
- When rolling a dice twice, how much greater is the probability that you will get a 1 or 2 each roll than the probability of getting a 1 and 2.

- A random number is chosen from one to fifty, inclusive of one and fifty. What is the probability that it is not prime and not even?
- In a certain high school in Southern Pennsylvania there are 500 students. Traditionally 45% of the students in the high school have been boys, 20% have worn glasses, and 10% have their own cars. What is the probability that a random student is a girl who doesn’t have glasses and does not have her own car?
- A ten-sided die is rolled three times. What is the probability that the first two rolls landed on a prime number or the third roll landed on an even number?
