Part A) First rewrite the expression using only addition
Part B) Draw the equation on the number line and solve.
- Look at the number line and write a word problem that could be solved by following the steps on the number line. Write the expression modeled on the number.

- Part A) 0.2 + (-.1.3) – 0.4 – (-0.5) written using only addition = 0.2 +(-1.3) + (-0.4) + (-0.5)

- The expression that is modeled on the number line is 8 – 4 or 8 + (-4). Possible word problems might include but are not limited to,
- Keith was taking a walk on the beach and found 8 sea shells, but gave 4 of them away to a kid that wanted to play with them. How many does he have left?
- Janice was taking a bike ride and traveled 8 miles when she realized that she dropped her keys. She had to ride back four miles to find them. How far was she from her original starting point?
