Answer Key/Rubric
- 120
- 900
- 10.2
- You got 15 questions correct.
Work might include, but is not limited to:
- To solve the missing part of the equation you have to find the relation between 100 and 20. 100 ÷ 5= 20. So you must perform the same operation to the numerators to find the missing value.
- 75÷5 = 15
- The student scored
- You would save $0.60.
Work might include, but is not limited to:
- Change 40% to a decimal. 40% = 0.40
- Multiply the original price by 0.40. $1.50 * 0.40 = $0.60
- 15% of 60
25% of 40
Work might include, but is not limited to:
- Find the value of each expression and compare.
- Change 15% to 0.15
- Multiply 60 * 0.15 = 9
- Change 25% to 0.25
- Multiply 40 * 0.25 = 10
- 9 < 10
The work of each item might include, but is not limited to:
- Changing the discount of 30% to 0.30 for each one
- Multiplying the original price buy the discount; this will be the amount saved
- 50 * 0.30 = 15
- 120 * 0.30 = 36
- 75 * 0.30 = 22.5
- To find the sale price you have to subtract the amount saved from the original price.
- 50 – 15 = 35
- 120 – 36 = 84
- 75 – 22.5 = 52.5
- The Happy Family Hotel is cheaper per night.
Work might include, but is not limited to (two different methods are shown below):
- Find the price of each hotel and compare
- Happy family discount is 15% which means you are paying 85%. 100 – 15 = 85
- Change 85% to 0.85
- Multiply $99.00 * 0.85 = $84.15. That is the amount that you will pay per night.
- For the Merry Place Hotel change 30% = 0.30
- Multiply the price by the decimal $124.00 * 0.30 = $37.20. That is the amount of money that you would save.
- Subtract the discount from the original price $124.00 – 37.20 = $86.80
- Compare the price and you will see that $84.15 < $86.80
