Continuum of Activities
The list below represents a continuum of activities: resources categorized by Standard/Eligible Content that teachers may use to move students toward proficiency. Using LEA curriculum and available materials and resources, teachers can customize the activity statements/questions for classroom use.
This continuum of activities offers:
- Instructional activities designed to be integrated into planned lessons
- Questions/activities that grow in complexity
- Opportunities for differentiation for each student’s level of performance
Activities
- The reading teacher asked the students to record how long they spent reading each night. Display the data collected in a line plot.
- Use the data from the table below to construct a line plot.
- Give students a bag of nails, ribbons, string, or other small object to measure using an inch ruler. Measurements should be recorded to the nearest quarter inch. Have students create a line plot using their data.
- Work with a partner to measure each other’s index finger to the nearest quarter inch. Have each person in the class record his/her results on the board. Using the data collected, construct a line plot. Answer the following questions based on the data collected:
- What was the most common length?
- What is the difference between the longest and the shortest length?
