Activities
- List 4 different sources of water on Earth.
- What is an aquifer?
- Rain is beneficial for both plants and animals. However, too much rain can disrupt ecosystems. For example, when a river empties lots of fresh water into the ocean after heavy rainstorms, many plants and animals are affected. Predict 3 ways that a large volume of freshwater introduced into the ocean will affect ocean plants and animals.
- Write a letter to the mayor of your city explaining the limited sources of freshwater on Earth that are available for human use. Make sure to stress the importance of conserving water. Suggest 2 ways in which your city can improve its water conservation.

- About 69% of the freshwater is held in glaciers and icecaps.
Student should use this information to form an argument about why it is important to conserve water and give at least 2 reasons how water consumption can be improved.
