PA ECYEH Awareness Week Is Nov. 11-15
Each November Pennsylvania’s ECYEH Awareness Week recognizes and brings awareness to the importance of the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act and the education needed to provide stability and consistency to children and youth experiencing homelessness across Pennsylvania.
There are several ways to celebrate #ECYEHAwareness Week!
• Use our Digital Toolkit for the Education for Children and Youth Experiencing Homelessness's digital content.
• Participate in our Pennsylvania ECYEH Learning Series webinar on Wednesday, November 13, “Unleashing Extraordinary: Well-being Strategies for Educators Supporting Vulnerable Students.”
• Participate in Red Shirt Day, Friday, November 15.
• Build a community of support – Share your activities with the ECYEH! Email your plans to ecyeh@csc.csiu.org.
• Use and share Finding Your Way in PA app to connect students and families with important local resources.
• Connect students with The Bridge Project in PA, providing online mental health services for children and youth experiencing homelessness.
The Pennsylvania Education for Children and Youth Experiencing Homelessness (ECYEH) program informs local school districts of their responsibilities to children and youth experiencing homelessness, increases awareness about the needs of children experiencing homelessness, reveals and overcomes possible educational barriers, explains current legislation and policies, and provides practical tips for working with students experiencing homelessness.
