COVID-19 Vaccine for Pre-K to 12 School Staff

3/4/2021

The single-dose Johnson & Johnson (J&J) COVID-19 vaccine received FDA emergency use authorization (EUA) on February 27. Pre-K to 12 public and non-public school teachers, administrators, bus drivers, and other school support and contracted staff will be among the first to receive the J&J vaccine in Pennsylvania.

The Departments of Education (PDE) and Health (DOH) and the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) are collaborating with Intermediate Units (IUs) and other education partners to equitably vaccinate all school employees and contracted staff as quickly as possible.

Pre-K to 12 public and non-public school staff across Pennsylvania will be provided an opportunity to be vaccinated, with priority given to school staff who have regular and sustained in-person contact with students during the regular school day. When the J&J vaccine is available, educators and school staff working with elementary education students, students with disabilities, and English Learners will be the first eligible to register.
