The Celebes Crested Macaque has black hair with pink ischial callosities (buttocks pads), a long tuft or crest on crown of head and bony ridges on nose similar to mandrill. They have large canine teeth and huge cheek pouches that can hold as much food as their stomach!

The Sulawesi Crested Macaque is found only in Indonesia, on the north-eastern corner of Sulawesi (once called Celebes). Found mainly in lowland primary and secondary tropical forests, as well as scrubland where they eat a variety of fruits; they shelter in trees, rocks and caves.
