Continuum of Activities

The list below represents a continuum of activities: resources categorized by Standard/Eligible Content that teachers may use to move students toward proficiency. Using LEA curriculum and available materials and resources, teachers can customize the activity statements/questions for classroom use.

This continuum of activities offers:

  1. Identify possible solutions to systems of equations and draw an example of each.

  1. Solve the following system of equations algebraically.  Be sure to show all your work and check your answer.

  1. Solve the following system of equations graphically: 
  1. Amir and his brother are 4 years apart.  Amir’s age can be represented by the equation y = x and his brother by the equation y = x + 4.  Graph the two equations on the same coordinate plane.  What do you notice about the graph, and what does it mean?

  • One solution – cross each other at one point

  • No solution – lines drawn are parallel

  • Infinite solutions – lines overlap; exact same line
