Continuum of Activities

The list below represents a continuum of activities: resources categorized by Standard/Eligible Content that teachers may use to move students toward proficiency. Using LEA curriculum and available materials and resources, teachers can customize the activity statements/questions for classroom use.

This continuum of activities offers:

Activities

  1. What would be the next three shapes in the pattern

 

  1. Starting with the number 7 write the first five numbers in the pattern using the rule subtract 2 multiply by 3.
  1. Jeff uses a rule to create a number pattern; the pattern starts with the number 100 and then you subtract 3.  Write the first 6 numbers in Jeff’s pattern, and write a sentence that describes the numbers in the pattern.
  1. A geometric pattern starts with a shape that has 8 sides and the rules states that you need to remove 2 sides each time. Draw the first 3 shapes in the patterns.
  1. Your teacher, Mrs. Brown, is grading papers and has 5 done at the end of the day on Monday.  If she can grade 7 more papers each night Tuesday through Saturday, how many papers will she have corrected by the end of the week?  Show your work.
  1. Draw the next shape in the pattern, and explain what the rule is on how you found your answer.

The rule for drawing the next shape in this pattern is to add one block to the vertical column, and add two blocks to the horizontal row.
