Continuum of Activities

  1. Tom bought 4 boxes of cookies.  Each box has 12 cookies.  The total number of cookies is 4 x 12.  Using the commutative property of multiplication, write an expression that can also be used to find the total number of cookies.

  2. Chang used 6 x 5 to represent the total number of houses shown in the diagram below.  Write another expression he could have used.  Explain what each expression represents.
